Daryl Schroeder is a dedicated community leader, small business owner, and public servant with deep roots in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. What We Do

What Our
Priorities Are ?

A Proven Leader In:

01.

Combating Waste, Fraud, and Abuse

I have a known track record of restoring integrity, transparency, and accountability at several companies and governmental agencies as a former fraud investigator. Waste, fraud, and abuse of public or private resources undermines trust, weakens institutions, and diverts critical funding away from the communities that need it most.

02.

Reforming Taxes, Regulations, and Government Growth

I recognize the burden of high property taxes, increasing millages, and burdensome government regulations that are putting a strain on families, businesses, and farmers. These challenges are not accidental—they are the result of policy choices and a culture within government.

03.

Improved Finances and Stability For Schools

As a current School Board President, I work closely with the other members of the School Board, Superintendent, and Principal to improve the district’s finances and stability which have resulted in the best financial position in twenty years. And, the School Board was recognized as one of the top-performing boards in the UP for 2026. Currently, we are working on a multi-million dollar grant to replace aging building infrastructure, and I would like to see this categorical in State funding added for all UP schools.

04.

Addressing the Need For Affordable Housing to Help Working Families

I am currently working with the Mackinac Brownfield Redevelopment Committee and the Michigan State Housing Development Authority to secure all or a portion of a million dollar infrastructure grant on a 24.2-acre parcel of land for moderate to low income working families and want to duplicate these efforts across several counties.

05.

Addressing Mental Health and Substance Abuse

As a member of the Luce, Mackinac, Alger, and Schoolcraft Health Board and as a Trustee on the North Care Policy Board, I have seen first-hand the issues of mental health and substance abuse disorders affecting families, friends, workplaces, and entire communities across Michigan. These are not isolated issues. I will be working closely with mental health officials, law enforcement officers, current legislators, and mental health institutions for potential solutions.
